Family Christmas Trip 2014

Hey Y'all
Hope you had a very Happy Christmas
(or whatever you celebrate )

We had a wonderful holiday.

Although Country Boy hasn't been feeling well for the last couple weeks.
And the little girls have had the crud too.
BOO !

I didn't get many pictures as I was a little under the weather on Christmas Eve myself.
Very Thankful that didn't last !

On the 26th , we set out on our annual family holiday trip.
Last year we went to Vegas.
Nothing that big this year .
We wanted to take all the "littles" ( grandchildren ) with us.
Sis is the travel agent of the family , so she booked us all in for a long weekend in Red Wing Minnesota.
It was supposed to have something for everyone .
And I guess it did.
( I'm just not much of a gambler )

But there was swimming ,

Addie would have swum 24/7 if she could have !
Lainey and Evan loved it too.
Tucker.... not so much .

Bowling ,

No need, apparently, to remove that beloved "paci"!

The Arcade

Gambling
( not for me )
But Sis had good luck and it's always fun to watch her happy dance !

It snowed 3-4 inches in Red Wing Friday night .
We woke to a white (after) Christmas .

Being the junker I am ,
and the fact that Red Wing is famous for their pottery ,
I begged , bribed and threatened Sis to go antiquing with me .
And she did .

We went to the Pottery Place ,
It's in a fabulous old brick building .
Obliviously , once a factory of some kind ,

I assume a pottery factory , as there is a museum close by ,
but there was no information about it's former life.

If you like pottery ,
or vintage dishes and glassware
( mostly dishes and glassware )
then this is a good place to go .

SO MUCH GLASSWARE AND DISHES !

Not really my thing , but I did find some great displays of Pyrex .
And I LOVED the color coordinated displays .

There were others shoppes , a salon and offices in this building .
It was impressive to see a community use an old building like this .
So many times you just see them in ruin .

Oh....
and there was a FABULOUS Chocolate Shoppe on the Main floor.
Sis isn't much good on open stairways,
so I perused the third floor by myself .

But....
when I met up with her on the main floor , she had gotten us each a truffle !

A Bailey's Truffle !
So GOOD!

And that concludes the Garbes / Johnson Christmas 2014 Trip
Wish I would have gotten more pictures of everyone,
( especially in their CBS t-shirts )
Maybe next year ....

That's all from the Trailerhood for now Friends ,
Thanks for visiting :)

Hey Y'All

It's been well over a year since I have blogged . I have been toying with the idea of a new blog for awhile now.
I kept putting it off .
Why ?
Good question....
I loved blogging , and the people that read it , seemed to enjoy it . So.... why did I stop.
Well , we got really busy . REALLY busy .
And it always took me longer than it should .
When I blogged before ( Making Home ) , I wrote about decorating our 1970 modified , manufactured home ( the Trailerhood )  , gardening , cooking , stuff like that . I had just started doing repurposed projects and selling them at consignment stores. Ron thought I was crazy . ( Well , I kinda am ...) Anyway , much to his surprise , I was pretty successful .
It didn't take him long to join in the fun .
Sooo....
We expanded.
He started buying junk EVERYWHERE ! After all , his gift in life is being able sell just about anything to anyone . Plus he loves to buy , and  I just love junk !
We have a booth at the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall  in Des Moines , Iowa.
We show at Vintage markets around the state. We start in April and do about one a month thru November.
We have been blessed to meet some of our best friends through our junking. Junkers tend to be authentic , creative,  eccentric , and a whole lot of fun.
Sooo...
  • If you like junk ,

 crazy people ,

 dogs,

 chickens ,

 gardens ,

and /or  wine ,

you have come to the right blog !

I hope you come along and follow all the happenings in the Trailerhood !
